Class 145 A circular saw for severing workpieces at any desired angle has a blade 6 mounted in carrier 5 angularly-adjustable on a slide 4 fed by hydraulic or other means and a central work support 13 is provided between a pair of vices 11 of which the distance apart can be adjusted by a hand-operated screw 12 or by hydraulic or other means; when the line of cut is at right angles to the workpiece axis, the vices are located immediately adjacent the sides of the work support 13 but, when the cut is at an angle and the vices are moved apart sufficiently to accommodate the obliquely - disposed blade, a support arm 15 and a link 16 connected to one of the vices rotate the support so that its blade-accommodating slot 14 lies at the same angle as the blade. A scale 7 indicates the angular setting of the saw and another scale 17 associated with the work support or one of the vices may be provided for correlating the saw and work support settings or, alternatively or additionally to the scale 17, the . screw 12 may be in driving engagement with a shaft 19 for effecting the angular setting of the blade. The saw may be controlled by a hand lever connected to the actuating means so that the workpiece is gripped by the vices before the saw feed begins.
