Abstract
23,191. Martens, D. G. Nov. 21. Cleansing casks.-The casks E are suitably held on a reciprocating frame A having pump cylinders H by which through suitable connections water is pumped into a reservoir K as the frame is reciprocated. From the reservoir the water is conveyed to the casks through pipes L and nozzle tubes leading therefrom, which, p a s s i n g through sleeves F, enter the bungholes of the casks, the nozzle tubes being adapted to be inserted into the casks or withdrawn therefrom. The sleeves F are driven from a fixed shaft through worm and bevel gearing, so as to rotate the casks, while they at the same time receive a reciprocating movement through the frame A. The casks, which are held between adjustable supports U, are adaptel to be rotated on a horizontal axis by hand-wheels V' to bring the bungs into position.
