20,792. Irwin, W. Oct. 17. Carburetting.-Relates to treating gas with benzene or other equivalent liquid. The apparatus consists of two chambers A, B, preferably one above the other. The upper chamber A contains the benzene &c., and is connected to the lower by a pipe C and valve c. The lower chamber B is divided into vertical compartments connected together to form a zig-zag passage along which the gas flows. The compartments contain shavings &c. for absorbing the benzene. To ensure an even temperature, a circulating-pipe K for water is provided. The gas enters by the pipe G, and passes out by a pipe H. A bye-pass L is arranged across the carburetter.
