Abstract
13,161. Reavell W., and Reavell & Co. June 24. Compressing; exhausting.-Four radial cylinders b are cast with or carried in an annular casing a. The pistons are driven from one crank-pin through T-headed connecting-rods i, which are secured to the crank-pin by flanged rings i<3>. The cylinders and pistons are notched as at b<4>, to enable the connecting-rods to be removed. The casing forms a water chamber d and an air delivery trunk e. Air is admitted to the cylinders from the crank chamber, partly through ports b<3> and partly through ports in the piston and its gudgeon. The air entering the crank chamber is controlled by a gridiron valve operated by the compressed air acting in a cylinder the piston of which operates the valve lever. The delivery valves f can be examined by removing the covers b<1>.
