The insertion pipe for joining two laid or fixed main pipes consists of three parts, the pipe a, the elongated socket pipe b with slot, and the ring or making-up piece d which fits within the slot in the pipe b. Projections e and f on the socket and insertion pieces are provided. The joints are sealed with cement, clay, or like material. The three parts, when put together, may equal in length an ordinary pipe, and may be of glazed or unglazed ware, terra-cotta, or iron.
