Abstract
9350. Wilton, G. May 3. Flues, cleaning.-Relates to brushing or scraping apparatus for removing dust deposits and the like. A brush or scraper is combined with a casing provided with dust and air inlets and connected by flexible tubing to a portable or stationary dust receiver in which a partial vacuum is produced by suitable exhausting-apparatus. Figs. 1, 2, and 3 show various forms of brushes adapted for cleaning flues, chimneys, &c., provided with a casing a' and flexible pipe b, which may be in short lengths with flexible couplings. Fig. 8 shows one form of dust receiver, in which the vacuum is produced by an ejector c and the dust is removed through a trap, while Fig. 9 shows another form with a bellows to force the dusty air through water supplied by a pipe e'. In other forms, the bellows is used with a plain receiver and the ejector with the wet dust-collector. The invention is applicable among other purposes to cleaning flues of kitchen ranges.
