Abstract

4914. Thompson, W. P., [Blanc, P.]. March 6. Annular-chamber type. -A rotary engine, suitable for motor road vehicles or cycles and driven by steam or explosive gas, is shown in section in Fig. 2. The drum A carries the working piston B, which is driven forward by the pressure produced by the explosion of gases i the chamber G. The piston pushes before it into the chamber G<1> the charge of gas which was drawn into the chamber K by the vane C through the passage J. The vane now sweeps the products of a previous explosion from the chamber K<1> into the exhaust port L. When the piston passes the port H<1>, the charge in the chamber G<1> is exploded and the cycle is repeated.
