9009. Flemming, C. E. April 8. Velocipede-cleaning brushes. - The brushes are for cleaning bicycles &c. Fig. 15 shows one form, comprising a cylindrical brush a secured by a hinge g and catch h to a tubular handle i to which is fitted a conical brush d, Figs. 5 and 15. The brushes a and d are respectively for cleaning the spokes and chain of bicycles &c. The brush a may be folded on its hinge g and the brush d reversed and placed in the handle i for convenience in carrying in a case attached to the bicycle. The brush a may be formed as shown in Figs. 3 and 4 by bending an ordinary wire brush double, thus forming stiff sides at l. This brush may be cut as shown in Fig. 18, and may be fixed to a separate handle or to the brush d, the wire cores of each being continuous. The brush d may have the section shown in Fig. 20, and be separately fixed to a handle. Where the brushes a and d are rigidly connected, a leather cap may be fitted over one of them to form a convenient handle while the other is being used. The leather cap may also be used for polishing the bright parts of the bicycle &c.
