Abstract
189,354. Booth, J. A., and Hawksley, J. M. Dec,. 5, 1921. Interconnecting guard with starting-gear ; stopping machinery by movement of guard. - In a device for stopping the doffer and coiler of a carding-engine when the lid of the coiler is raised a projection d<1>, Fig. 1, rigid with the lid b is connected through a link e to a lever f which is adapted to release the catch i and allow the lever h to be drawn over by a spring to stop the doffer. The lever f may carry a metal strip f<1>, Fig. 3, adapted to raise a notched catch k on the lever h from a fixed projection, and may be connected through a bell-crank o to a sliding plate n with a forked end to embrace the lever h and hold it in the " off " position. The lever f may also be connected through a link to a, trip member pivoted on the barrow lever itself, which lever carries the gear driving the gear on the doffer shaft.
