Abstract

181,967. Poppe, P. A., and White & Poppe, Ltd. June 14, 1921. Lawn-mowers. - The grass-box of a motor-driven lawnmower is carried by arms pivoted so that it can be moved from its normal position into one in which it forms a protective covering for the mechanism. The box A is suspended at each end from an arm B pivoted at B<2> to the frame of the machine each end of the box being provided with a trunnion which engages a slot B<3> in the corresponding arm. In the normal position of the box projections B<4> on the arms engage stops C<2> on the frame, but they can be moved to the position indicated in dotted lines, thus supporting the box in an inverted position over the engine, magneto, and silencer. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention may be applied to grass-cutters generally.
