Abstract

Type-lever actions. - In a noise-reducing action, each 'type-lever is associated with an energy-storing element which is operative to complete the stroke of the type-lever independently of the key. In the action shown, the typelever 7, pivoted on a bracket 27, is connected by a link 14 to a bell-crank 10 having a lug 15 en gaging the key-lever 4. The type-lever is connected by toggle-links 30, 26 to the bracket, and an energy-storing member 19, consisting of a weight formed on an arm 18, is pivotally connected to the link 26, and a lever 21 pivoted on the bracket. On depressing the key-lever, the type-lever is swung upwards with an accelerated movement which continues until the type-lever approaches the platen. Thereupon the key-lever is arrested by a stop 34, and the movement of the type-lever is completed by the weight, the toggle 26, 30 being straightened and the arm 18 being moved into alignment with the lever 21. Returning-springs 32, 33 engage the key-lever and the arm 23 of the lever 21 respectively, and a stop 24 is arranged in the path of the arm. The bracket 27 is adjustably secured to the frame work 35 by means of screws 36, 37.
