Abstract

Motor attachments for road vehicles; cycle, tractor, and like propelling attachments.-A motor propulsion unit for road vehicles, and more particularly for perambulators, comprises a plurality of frame members 8 connected by a transverse frame member and by an axle 43 carrying one or more road wheels, a complete power unit mounted on the frame substantially in longitudinal alignment with the road wheel or wheels, a universal or similar joint 6 for attaching the propulsion unit to the axle or other part of a perambulator or other vehicle, and means, such as footboards 41, by means of which the driver may ride on the power unit. Shields 45 are arranged between the forward ends of the footboards 41 and the power unit. The power unit may be petrol, electric, petrolelectric or steam. When a petrol unit is used, an air-cooled engine 10 may be arranged horizontally, with its crank case in two parts, the lower part being adapted to support the magneto 13 and to carry the countershaft bearings. The lower side of the fuel tank 31 may be recessed to accommodate the upper part of the crank case and a gear wheel.
