Abstract

187,806. Mills, J. E. Sept. 26, 1921. Screwdrivers. - A screwdriver having means adapted to grip the sides of the slot of a screw to facilitate manipulation during insertion consists of an ordinary screwdriver blade 2 on which slide spring jaws ' normally pressed together, the tips 6 of which when inserted in a screw slot are forced apart to grip the screw by means of the main blade 2. The jaws 5 may be formed in one piece with slots 7 covered by a knurled sleeve 9 at the upper end which engage with projections 8 on the main blade to limit the movement of the blades. After the screw has been started, the jaws 5 may be drawn back over the blade 2 which is then used to drive home the screw.
