Abstract

187,525. Hobbies, Ltd., and Jewson, H. Jan. 5, 1922. Saws.-In a hand fret-saw frame, the handle is fixed to a part of the frame which is sloped at such an angle that when the handle is grasped in the natural position, the saw will be held vertically and over the centre of the grip. Improved straining devices are also provided. The handle is secured to a sloping part A<1>, Fig. 1, of the frame A so that the saw blade is in line with the centre of handle. The upper saw clamp B is pivoted to a lever A<2> pivoted at A<3> to a strap A<4> secured to the frame A and carrying a pivoted cam lever A<8> adapted to bear on the short arm of the lever A' to tension the saw. The lower clamp C is pivoted to the part A<1> or to an intermediate link D, Fig. 3, pivoted at D<1> to a strap E fixed to the frame A and carrying a screwed block F receiving a screw F<1> adapted to bear on the link D to strain the saw.
