Abstract

187,425. Bullock, G. Hall-, and Coulson, A. M. Sept. 16, 1921. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.- A crank case is cast with flanges 19, and with double walls forming lubricant reservoirs 24. The flanges at the junction of two units form a chamber 44, and at the ends of the engine are covers 21, which with the flanges 19 form chambers 23, which surround the bearings and receive lubricant from the reservoirs 24. Loose rings 39 resting on the crank shaft through gaps in the bushes 18 dip into the lubricant at the bottom of the chambers. Oil creeping along the crank shaft outwards is trapped by the covers 42 and returned to the chambers through channels 43.
