Needle and like valves.- A burner i is mounted on or connected to a needle valve d carried in a socket b, on an acetylene or other gas holder a. The socket b contains packing compressed by a cap e through which the valve d screws. The valve d is formed with an axial conduit f having a lateral extension f<1> opening into the space g between the valve and the socket above the valve seat. A handwheel h is provided for operating the valve d.
