Abstract

186,806. Bennett, J. C., and Bennett, G. C. Sept. 3, 1921. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.- Relates to steam-jet apparatus for removing soot from the exterior surfaces of the tubes of water-tube boilers, and comprises one or more tubular blowers mounted for rotation and simultaneo\I# axial motion in screw-threaded bearings in holders or seatings permanently mounted in the boiler setting. Each blower tube 6, carrying flush nozzles 16, is threaded to engaga with the seating 1 in the boiler setting 2. A chain-driven sprocket. wheel 14 imparts a rotary movement to the blower. Steam is admitted from the supply pipe 22 to the casing 8, and by ports 43 to the blower tube. A stem 41 within the casing 8 engages, by means of threads of the same pitch as those of the seating 1, with the blower arm. A second seating 20, or a supporting-bracket, clamped to one of the boiler tubes, may be used to support the other end of the blower tube.
