Protecting covers.-A cap temporarily screwed on the nipple of a tyre valve to receive the pressure or blows of a screwdriver or hammer used to force the nipple through the wheel rim is formed with thick metal sides and top and has a recess at its inner end to hold a packing of rubber or the like adapted to bear against the top of the valve nipple. The top of the cap is cross cut, and if the valve has a projecting pin, the top of the cap is formed with a central hole. The packing d in the cap a is provided with a stiffening-member g as described in Specification 100,108. The packing and the stiffening-member are dome-shaped. A metallic cap h may be placed between the packing and the cap.
