Abstract
185,918. Wade, H., (Griesser, W. C.). July 25, 1921. Piers, walls, and the like; piling. - Subaqueous structures for use in piers, wharves, docks, walls, jetties, foundations, bridges, &c. comprise a number of tubular units 5, Fig. 2, with closed conical bottoms and internal strengthening - ledges; the units, which may be built up of superposed sections, are sunk by filling them with concrete, and are slidably connected with each other so as to allow independent settling movement. The connections may consist of T-beams 6 secured to the units and working in channel-irons 7 bolted together at 8. Where the units are spaced widely apart and connected by rods or metal frames, similar sliding joints are provided at the ends and points of intersection of the bracing-rods &c. Examples of such joints are shown in Figs. 6 and 7.
