Abstract

183,615. Morton, B. May 10, 1921. Walls.-Canvas bags adapted to be filled with concrete, sand, &c. for the construction of walls &c. are made with holes by means of which the bags are threaded on to previously-arranged guidebars. Each bag a, Fig. 10, is pierced to receive a metal tube b, the fabric being gripped between two washers c, d threaded on each end of the tube. The washers c may be permanently fixed, and the ends of the tube split so that they may be clenched over after the washers d have been threaded on, or the washers may be screwed on to the tube. Guide-bars e, Figs. 2 and 4, are fixed in position on the site of the structure, and the bags threaded thereon, tie-bars f being used between the courses if desired. Each bag may have two tubes and may be threaded on to two bars, and any style of bond may be adopted. The tops of the guide-bars e may be embedded in a concrete capping h, Fig. 4, or in the superstructure, and ties l or buttresses may be provided.
