Crank - actuated pumps; eccentric - actuated pumps ; multiple-cylincler piston pumps; valves, facilitating removal of.-In a pump for liquids or gases of the kind having radial cylinders with pistons operated by a rotating crank-pin, eccentric, or cam on a central shaft, the cylinders c are arranged in opposite pairs and are connected by two rings a, b. The inlet ports u of the cylinders communicate with a common inlet duct g at an intermediate radius, and the delivery duct h in the ring a. The flow of fluid is radially outwards so that, in the case of gas, the transfer of heat from the compressed gas to the incoming gas is reduced. The valves w may be got at by unscrewing plugs y closing the ends of the cylinders. The inlet manifold g is arranged in the cover f of the pump casing, so that, if inlet valves are used, they may be got at by removing the cover. The pistons carry pins m mounted in ball bearings n enclosed in rings o, which are free to rotate on the main ball bearings q on the crankpin r.
