Abstract
185,444. Green, E. April 2, 1921. Strainer separators; baskets. - A strainer separator for the treatment of sewage has a perforated bowl d attached to the shaft a working in bearings in the frame x. The bowl is supported on ball bearings f and is lined with bags of sand or charcoal g. The bags may be made of asbestos, leather, or the like and are held in place by wire frame segments secured by screws. The strainer is surrounded by a casing l with an outlet pipe leading to another strainer. The sewage is brought into the strainer through the pipe k; the dried solid matter is removed as a powder through the suction pipe j and can be used as manure. A squeegee presses upon the wire framework over the filter bags to remove solid matter, and when the bags are saturated with impurities they may be cleaned in a furnace. The liquor may be passed through a series of separators.
