Abstract

185,360. Cartwright, F. A. Dec. 7, 1921. Hubs.-A hub for perambulator and other vehicle wheels comprises a barrel 4 carrying ball races at each end and rotating about a sleeve 3 carrying complementary races. The axle 1 is formed with a split 7, and a tapered screw 9 forces a lip 12 to engage an inner flange 11 on the sleeve 3 thereby forcing the latter against a collar 2. The sleeve has a D or other irregularly-shaped hole engaging the axle 1 to prevent relative rotation. In a modification, the axle has a shouldered end which is slit and formed with two lips engaging over the ends of a sleeve formed without the flange 11.
