Abstract
184,418. Gardiner, E. S. Jan. 3, 1922. Pots.-A coffee-pot is provided with a percolator containing perforated strainer plates threaded on a central rod and held in place thereon by sleeves provided with locking-devices. The strainer plates are provided with cover-plates which can be arranged to expose a greater or less area of holes. The infuser B is provided with an outer ledge b<1> which rests on the top of the pot A and an inner ledge b on which rest the lower strainer plate D and cover-plate E. The central rod P passes through holes in these plates, which are held between a flange p' on the rod and a sleeve S provided with a tooth s engaging with a notch y on the rod. The rod is formed with a flattened face over which the tooth s can be passed until it is in position to be made to engage with the notch y by turning the sleeve s. A second strainerplate and cover-plate supported by a second sleeve are also provided, as is a top distributing-plate G, which can, if desired, be used by itself as a strainer-plate, the opening for the rod P being closed by a plug. The strainer-plate may be made with different groups of holes of different sizes, as shown in Fig. 5, and the cover-plate shaped as shown in Fig. 4, so as to cover different groups of holes as desired, projections d<1> and notches e<1> being provided to hold the plates in the desired relative positions.
