Abstract
184,352. Mestre, C. A., Duchatel, E. E. H., and English, W. E. July 18, 1921. Smoke-tube superheaters.-In a smoke-tube superheater of the kind in which each element has separate flow and return tubes connected by a head at the fire-box end of the fire-tube, the tubes through which the steam flows in one direction are flattened between the round end portions connected to the junction-box in the smoke box and to the head. Flattened tubes B connected to a junction-box E in the boiler smoke-box and to a head C in the smoke-tube surround a tube D opening into the head and passing through the junction-box. The head is of a star shape corresponding to the arrangement of the tubes. The parts of the head and the junction-box are welded together. The flattened portions of the tubes may have curved or indented sides. The tube D may be bent upwards clear of the junction-box. Specification 176,312 is referred to.
