Springs, arrangement of; guiding vertical play. -Relates to spring suspensions for vehicles in which the axle is carried by one or more spring- controlled trailing-arms pivoted to the vehicle body in such a manner that the axle moves rearwardly and upwardly against the spring or springs. According to the invention, which is particularly applicable to perambulators, the axle is carried at or near the free ends of the pivoted arms, the springs being secured at one end to the body at points in the same horizontal plane as the pivots of the arms and at the other end to the axle or to the arms in the neighbourhood of the axle. As shown in Fig. 2, a curved arm 10 pivoted at 11 to the"body A carries at its rear end the axle B, and a flat-strip or Cee-spring 13 secured at 18 to the body is connected at 19 to the arm 10. An additional spring 15 may be arranged between the ends of the spring 13. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the pivoted arm 37 slides, against the action of a spring 39, on a rod 38 pivoted to the body A. Means may be provided for adjusting the springs. The pivoted arms need not be curved, and a pair of arms carrying an axle may be connected by transverse strips; or, each wheel may be carried by a separate stub axle. According to the Provisional Specification, the rod 38, Fig. 3, is curved and may be fixed to the body, while the spring 39 may be replaced by a pair of springs arranged one within the other.
