Abstract
182,371. Beauchamp, L. H. Sept. 21, 1921. Animal traps.-A continuous-action trap comprises a spring-actuated spindle 15 carrying a striking-hammer 18 and trip mechanism which releases the spindle 15 when the bait is interfered with. The spindle is journaled in a vertical plate 10, which is clamped to a receptacle 12 having an opening 13 for the passage of the hammer and the animal. The animal interfering with the bait box 21 depresses the arm 26 and releases the pawl 25 from a shoulder 24<1> on a disc 23 on the spindle 15. The spring 16 then rotates the hammer 18 which kills the animal and forces it into the receptacle 12. The hammer makes a complete revolution, and as it approaches its set position a pin 27 on the disc 23 depresses the finger 28 so that the pawl 25 is brought back into contact with the shoulder 24'. The hammer arm 24 is adjustable radially on the spindle 15 and a supplementary pawl 29 is fitted. A tension washer 26' is placed at the pivot of the arm 26 and between the arm and the part 10.
