Abstract

465,991. Animal traps. ATKINSON, J. H. Aug. 11, 1936, No. 22119. [Class 5 (i)] In a trap for rodents &c. of the throw-over type the U-shaped trap member 4 is held in set position by a shackle 9 pivoted to the base board within the member 4, a bait-holding lever or rod 11 being provided which extends forwardly from a point adjacent the pivot 10 and is pivoted to the shackle 9 or the pivot 10 so that when the lever 11 is depressed it draws the shackle 9 forward and releases the trap member 4. As shown in Fig. 2 a movable platform 2 is hinged to the base board 1 by means of a flexible hinge 3 or alternatively the nails securing the platform 2 to the hinge may be loose. The rod 11 is pivoted to the shackle 9 and is secured to the platform 2 by an eye 12. In Fig. 3 the lever 11 is mounted on the pivot 10 and carries an upstanding arm 14 which engages the shackle 9 to operate it.
