[Class 5 (i)] A mouse, rat or like trap comprises a lever having a portion normally extending beneath the spring- controlled trapping member and an extension for holding the latter in its " set " position, the lever being formed with an upstanding portion which is engaged by the bait holder, the arrangement being such that a forward or rearward movement of the bait holder removes it from engagement with the upstanding portion of the lever and thereby releases the trapping member. In the construction shown, the spring-controlled trapping member 4 is held in its set position against the action of its spring by the cranked end 9 of a member 8 pivoted to the base 7. The member 8 has a vertical extension 10 terminating in a hooked portion 11, the latter passing through an aperture between the limbs of. a U-shaped bait carrying member 5. The latter is also pivoted to the base 7 and has extensions 6 on which-the bait is placed. Pivotal movement of the member 5 in either direction serves to move it from its engagement with the portion 11 of the member 8 and the latter, thus released, can no-longer hold the member 4 which then moves to the trapping position under the action of its Spring.
