Wire strainers.-A lever wire strainer of the kind in which the hand-lever 1, Fig. 1, has two loosely pivoted hooked members 3, 5 with their hooked ends bent at right-angles to one another, is provided with a securing-means consisting of a pair of U-shaped members 8, through the slot 9 between the forks of which is passed a loop upon the wire to be strainer, a chain-attached pin 11 being then inserted in the bend of the U-shaped member and passed through the loop on the wire, as it is inserted, to secure it. The hooked members upon the straining-lever, to which the above securing-means is attached by a freely pivoted link 7, take into the links of a length of chain 19 attached by another link 18,. Fig. 4, to a bow-shaped bar 13, adapted to be placed againts a post to which the wire is to be strained, and kept thereby, looping a short chain 17 around the post and on to a hook 16. For straining one wire to another, a second wire-end securing.device 14 is provided upon the strainer.
