Abstract

180,302. Krupp Akt.-Ges. Germaniawerft, F. May 19, 1921, [Convention date]. Cylinders, cooling.-A water - cooled member carrying valves is mounted so that it abuts against the underside of the cylinder head or a detachable cover. The walls of the member B, which has a neck C<1>, are made thinner than those of the neck. The valves may all be carried in one casing, and some of them, such as the starting and fuel valves, may be combined. Cooling-water may enter by a passage C<2>, and leave by a passage C<3>, or it may enter by a central passage. The central watercooled member is secured to the cylinder head,. and is free to expand in all directions. In a modified construction, the cylinder is fitted with a detachable cover in which is mounted the water-cooled member shown in Fig. 1.
