Abstract

179,571. Marks, E. C. R., (Fisk Rubber Co.). Nov. 9, 1920. Moulding wheel tyres.-Cores for use in tyre manufacture, and of the type adapted to be heated, are formed of hollow sections 2, 3, 4 and a key-piece 1 fitted together so that circumferential and radial movement between the section is prevented. For this purpose the sections are provided with circumferential extending portions at their ends and also with interfitting portions, and are held in expanded position by means of a spring ring 5 and wedge key 6. When steam or other fluid is the heating-medium, connecting-passages 10 which pass in substantially radial direction across the joints are provided, and gasket rings 12 surround these portions to prevent leakage of the steam &c. The core may be electrically heated, in which case contacts are provided at the junction of the sections.
