Abstract

170,931. Denmire, H. A., and General Tire & Rubber Co. July 29, 1920. Moulding wheel tyres.-A collapsable core for use in moulding tyres is formed of four sections, two of which 20<a> are adapted to slide radially on guide-rods carried by a fixed sleeve 35, while the other two sections 20 slide radially on guide-rods carried by a sleeve 25 which also moves axially on the shaft 10. The sections 20<a> are formed with recessed ends to engage projections 20<b> on the ends of the sections 20, these ends being disposed in the direction of radial sliding. The sections in each case are operated by cranks 22 from hand-wheels 27, which are rotatably mounted on the sleeves 25, 35. For beading the tyre, a removable guide-piece 40 is carried by arms 41 fixed to the hand-wheels.
