Abstract

Plug andsocket couplings.-The male or female member of a plug-and-socket connector is mounted upon its carrier by deforming, as by swaging, spreading or upsetting, a part of the member or an element mounted on it. A unitary body comprising a plug 1 and terminal 2 has shoulders formed at 3, 6, and after insertion into a hole in the carrier 4 the shoulder 6 is spread into engagement with the carrier which may be recessed to receive the expanded, shoulder. The part 5 may exceed in diameter that of the terminal, and the shoulder thus formed may be spread similarly to the shoulder 6. The unitary body 1 may be grooved in parts 10 which lie adjacent to the carrier surface, and a slotted or coned washer 12 or a split ring may be deformed so as to engage the groove 10 and the carrier 4 also. Mica washers 13 may be placed in grooves in the carrier for the securing-washers to abut against.
