Abstract
178,511. Granieri, L. Jan. 4, 1921. Tricars.-In a threewheeled vehicle the single front wheel is the driving-wheel and the back wheels are steering-wheels. The front wheel is arranged in the tapering forward end of the frame and is mounted in the forward ends of angle levers 11, 12, which are pivoted at the angle on the changegear box 9, their vertical arms 12 being connected to the frame by springs 13. The motor 7 drives the change gearing at a. reduced speed through the chain 10 and motion is transmitted from the change gearing to the road wheel 2 through a chain 14. The back wheels, which are steered by the ordinary linkage, are mounted on a U-shaped cross axle, on the ends of which are pivoted two crank levers 18 whose upper ends are connected to semi-elliptical springs 19 whilst the lower ends are joined to rods 20 in casings 21 which also contain springs to render the rods resilient.
