Slipping of wheels, preventing.-A device for preventing the skidding of road vehicles and of the type which is secured to the axle or underframe and has auxiliary road wheels which are brought into contact with the road by hand-lever mechanism under control of the driver, comprises two or more members each consisting of a frame 7 secured to the axle at right angles thereto, and comprising two upright members having guides 5, 6 in which slide vertical rods 4 supported by compression springs 10 and carrying at their lower ends a wheeled frame 3 which is forced downwards into contact with the road by a cam 13 mounted in the frame 7 and operated b handcontrolled mechanism. Pneumatic mechanism may replace the cam 13.
