Jackets and covers; non-metallic elastic bodies and cores.-A solid or pneumatic tyre is built up of alternating layers of rubber and wide open mesh textile fabric A, in which, to retain the shape of the mesh a under varying stresses, the threads are interlocked as shown in Fig. 1. The rubber penetrates the meshes a to form a homogeneous rubber mass. In the case of a pneumatic tyre a canvas foundation is used.
