Abstract
177,766. Godkevitch, A. H. March 31, 1921, [Convention date]. Seats.-Wooden shipping cases are constructed' so that closing the cover automatically locks the case. Pivoted lugs 21 actuated by a spring 22 are mounted on a plate 17 bolted to the lid and are arranged to engage with side-pieces 25 of a plate 30 bolted to the end. One of these fastenings may be arranged at each end of the case. The case is constructed of two end frames 13<a>, to the inner sides of which boards 12 are nailed. The boards 10, 13 of the top and bottom and sides overlap the edges of the end frames. Bars 14, 15 extend around the case and are jointed at their ends either by recesses and projections or by the spring fastenings, or by means of corner plates corresponding to the plate 17. The intermediate boards are nailed to the bars from the inside by nails which do not penetrate the outer surface, and are further prevented from endwise sliding by pins 27 secured to the lid and extending into recesses in the end walls. Bars 28 are arranged across the ends and secured to the intermediate planks by bolts 29, the heads of which cannot be rotated.
