Abstract

177,591. Mathias, J. Dec. 24, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Vessels modified for loading and unloading; staiths and elevated structures.-Overhead runways E, F are provided in the holds so that cargo lowered through a hatchway such as C may he taken by an overhead trolly to any part of the hold. Preferably two fore-and-aft runways E, F are arranged at each side of the hold between the sides of the hatchway and of the ship, and these runways are connected by transverse portions G with junctions so that a trolly may pass from E to F. More than two longitudinal runways may be provided. The invention also comprises the combination of runways in the ships holds with overhead runways in the dock sheds commanding the ships hatches and provided with trollies for lifting and transporting as described in Specifications 113,300 and 114,664.
