Abstract

Stuffing-box joints with valves.-Pipe lines are. fitted with a valve comprising a tubular member e arranged in a guiding sleeve d which is screwed into a socket formed in a member b screwing into the end of a pipe. The member e may beshaped to receive a flexible connection, or the sleeve d may have screwed connection with another pipe. A packing f makes the joint between the valve and sleeve. A disc h of elastic material is adapted to co-operate with the seating c, and openings are provided around the disc h for the passage of fluid. A stud n on the part e engages with an eccentric opening in the plug l so that on rotation of the plug, the part e is moved longitudinally. The plug is retained in its socket by screws m.
