Hand lamps.-A hurricane lantern comprises a fuel reservoir a under pressure, supplying fuel through a pipe c and a valve-controlled fitting d to a vapour generator s. Incandescent mantles f are carried by burner tubes g depending from a chamber h arranged above a mixing-tube i. The mixing-tube i is supported by air tubes k secured to a perforated disc or platform m. The platform m carries a mica glass or like chimney n and also has secured to it frame members p supporting a ventilating cap r. A needle for clearing the vapour jet may be operated by means of a wire w<2> extending to the outside of the lantern.
