Abstract

175,509. Rose, B. Jan. 14, 1921. Barrels.-Relates to the manufacture of double and single barrels for drop-down guns, and consists in securing together the barrels of doublebarrelled guns, and in attaching the lump, and enlarging the breech end of the barrel or barrels by depositing iron or steel by the welding electrode in an electric welding operation. In the double barrel shown in Fig. 4, metal c deposited below and to the sides of the barrels secures the lump d, which is a rolled bar formed with an interlocking edge e, and forms the side shoulder enlargements, and metal b deposited in the space above the barrels forms the top rib. The metal is afterwards machined to shape. In the single barrel shown in Fig. 7, metal i is deposited on the top of the barrel to form the rib.
