Abstract

175,473. Frith, W. J. Dec. 9, 1920. Countersunk tips.-A heel-protector, designed to be applied without the use of screws, nails, &c. comprises a metal housing A, shaped to fit within a. recess F cut in the heel, and secured therein by screws. The recess F is cut with a narrow neck-lilie portion and has bevelled edges, as shown. A weaning-pad B of similar shape and also having bevelled edges G is pushed into and held by the housing A, a central slit H being provided, in the case of a rubber pad, to facilitate insertion and removal. When a metal pad is used, it is made in two parts hinged together by a strip of rubber or thin metal. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the recess F and the housing A are enlarged to receive a, reversible pad B. A number of slightly modified forms of metal housing are also described.
