389,048. Batteries. DILLGER, C. T., (trading as HAMBURGER BATTERIEFABRIK C. DILLGER), and KENTZLER, H., 87, Eppendorferweg, Hamburg, Germany. Nov. 1, 1932, No. 30732. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1931. [Class 53.] The insulating-strip 4 which protects the terminal strips 2, 3 of a dry battery from being short-circuited, is provided with a handle 7 which enables the strip 4 and the sealing strip 5 to be removed in one operation and simultaneously raises the terminal strip 2 into the erect position required when the battery is to be inserted in the casing of a lamp. The handle 7 may be in the form of an extension of the strip 4 and may be situated at the end covering the longer terminal 3. The shorter terminal 2 passes through a slot in the strip 4, the longer terminal being exposed for testing by means of a tongue cut from the strip 4 and passing beneath the terminal. In a modification, the handle is situated at the end of the battery at which the shorter terminal is situated. The strip 4 is then provided with a slot 13 for the longer terminal, as shown in Fig. 6, and a tongue 11 passes beneath the short terminal.
