Abstract
174,262. Simpson, J., and McClure, R. P. Nov. 23, 1920. Pressing and squeezing fruit &c. - Apparatus for extracting juice from fruit &c. comprises an outer casing 1, an inner perforated casing 10, a detachably-mounted screw press, and a strainer 6 below the inner casing. The casing 10 is attached to and supported by a ring 11, partly conical and partly cylindrical, and provided with a flange which rests upon the flange 8 of the outer casing. The screw 19 of the press works through the central boss of a spider 14, the arms of which have their ends secured by pins 16 in slots forced in lugs fixed to the ring 11. The press plate 20 is mounted on a spider 23, held between collars 24 on the shaft, and is recessed at the edges to correspond with inwardly pressed ribs 26 in the sides of the casing 10, which prevent rotation of the plate. The strainer 6 is of flannel, stretched over a ring 5, and is supported by lugs 4.
