[Class 28(ii)] A juice extractor for fruit and vegetables comprises an outer casing 11 having a lid 2 apertured at 3 for the passage of the fruit &c., said apertures leading to a volute passage 4 within the casing which directs the fruit &c. onto a horizontal perforated and toothed shredder plate 5 secured to an apertured supporting plate 6 having a central sleeve 6a keyed to a vertical shaft 7 driven by an electric motor. Freely mounted on a sleeve 6b keyed to sleeve 6a is a 3-armed spider 8 each arm carrying a truncated conical roller 9 said rollers being mounted so as to form three concentric crushing paths on the stepped underside of plate 6. The pulped fruit &c. is then centrifuged by a perforated bowl 10 driven by shaft 7 through pins 6c co-operating with 'the sleeve 6b, the juice being delivered circumferentially into the casing 11 and therefrom through an outlet spout 12. A bracket 13 prevents rotation of the spider 8. Removal of a clip 14 permits ready removal of the lid 2 and passage 4 access then being obtained to a knob 15, the unscrewing of which allows the plate 6, spider 8 and, if desired, the bowl 10 to be withdrawn from the machine for cleaning or other purposes. According to the Provisional Specification the free ends of the spider arms may be spring-anchored to the outer wall of the passage 4 and the hub of the spider may be mounted on a spring-loaded ball thrust-bearing.
