Abstract

171,246. Davidson, W. B. Sept. 13, 1920. Calorimeters. -- In a gas calorimeter the products of combustion are brought into intimate association with a cooling liquid by passing both the products and d the liquid through a common divided medium. The calorimeter consists of a cylindrical shell A containing packing B, which may be of the form described in Specification 26979/11, [ C l a s s 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], resting on a perforated annular member D secured to a cone E surmounting the burner J. Cooling-liquid is supplied from a pipe L to a distributor C, which may be of the kind described in Specification 2541/13, [Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], and passes thence through the packing B and the perforations in the member D to a spiral trough F and the exit pipe H. The products of combustion pass through the member D and the packing B and leave through holes O in the shell.
