Shafts.-A device for releasing the shafts of tar-boilers or the like from the chassis comprises a sliding bolt q having ends r engaging eyes on arms c, g on the shafts and chassis respectively and acting as the hinge-pin therebetween, and a lever m pivoted to the chassis and engaging a projection s on the bolt q. A stop o serves to hold the lever in position and over which it must be sprung to withdraw the bolt.
