Abstract
170,711. Master, S. D. Aug. 13, 1920. Cone or spherical-journal bearings.-In a railway or other vehicle the wheels are rotatably supported by stub axles carried in a frame, each end of the hub of the wheel engaging with the stub axles by means of co-operating projections and recesses so as to rotatably and independently support each wheel. The wheels 3, 3 are pivoted by means of the adjustable stub axles 7, 7 carried in a frame 2, 2 on the vehicle. The ends of the stub axles may be pointed or rounded to engage in a corresponding recess in the hub of the wheel, or the hub may have semi-spherical projections formed on it engaging in corresponding recesses in the stub axles. The frame 2 may be attached directly to the vehicle, Fig. 1, or resiliently supported on guides 9, 9, Fig. 4, by means of springs 10.
