Abstract

Presses processes; moulds.-A process for moulding bricks free from internal tension consists in filling a mould 10 with slight excess of plastio material and raising it upwards by means of an eccentric 4 whilst allowing excess material to escape between the edges of the mould and the stationary oover-plate 6, until contact with the cover-plate prevents further escape of material, such excess as remains escaping through holes 15 in the movable bottom plate 3. The cover-plate 6 is adjustably attached to the framework 1 by hinges 7, and is held in position by adjustable hooks 8. The mould 10, Fig. 4, comprises halves 12 movable about hinges 11 by handles 14, and is made cone-shaped outwardly to correspond with the frame 9. In an alternative form, both the upper and the lower edges of the mould are provided with projecting steel plates so that the mould may be reversed when worn. Specification 18786/03 is referred to.
